THE famed British secret agent Violette Szabo, who was posthumously awarded the George Cross, will be remembered at the museum opened to her memory at Cartref House, Tump Lane, Wormelow, on Sunday, June 26.
The day will mark what would have been her 90th birthday.
Violette had been parachuted into France barely 24 hours after D-Day for a special assignment. In saving a key agent she used a sten gun but was eventually overwhelmed and captured.
After imprisonment, torture and forced labour she was shot at Ravensbruck Prison in January 1945.
To celebrate her 90th birthday visitors are invited to join in a wartime theme by bringing along refreshments such as jelly, tinned fruit, Spam and jam sandwiches.
Organiser Rosemary Rigby says that it is hoped the actress Virginia McKenna, who played in the part of Violette in the film 'Carve Her Name With Pride' will attend.
The celebration will begin at 2pm.
•The museum opens each Wednesday until October from 11am until 1pm and from 2pm until 4pm.
