ALLUDING to your article in the Review Opinion a fortnight ago regarding dog and muzzles I can say that to some extent I agree.
However, I believe that dogs, like some children, behave in such a way that much depends on their upbringing from an early age.
I class myself as a responsible dog owner and indeed, on occasion, walk mine off the lead, but on seeing anyone approaching with their dog either on or off the leash, I put mine back on it.
This is not because I fear that he will bite, but because nobody knows how their dog will react to another animal.
Drawing a parallel to children, perhaps the more recalcitrant ones should be chained to the railings during playtime.
I appreciate that no-one knows how their animals or offspring will behave in certain situations, but the do's and don'ts of what is acceptable in society should be instilled into them at an early age.
As an example, I was once assailed by a Scottie! Who would believe that in later life he would be one of the reasons for our present credit crunch?
I can only be grateful that his friend, the poodle next door, was more interested in a Bush! – J Davies, Bream.
