A YOUNG Forest girl who had her hair cut for charity last November has presented the proceeds to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Charley Smith, of Coleford, set herself the goal to raise £300 and smashed this by almost £2,000.

The 10-year-old visited the hospice, where her late grandfather was cared for, at the weekend to give staff the cheque.

Elise Hoadley, director of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said: “We are so very grateful to this incredible young lady for choosing to raise funds for us in this brave way.

“The money Charley raises will help us provide care for more local families in Gloucestershire who have a loved one with a life limiting condition. On behalf of everyone at Leckhampton Court Hospice we want to say a big thank you to Charley for her support.”

Charley donated her chopped locks to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children who have their lost their hair through chemotherapy.
