AROUND 30 food and drink producers showed off their work at the Monmouthshire Food Festival.
Hundreds of people enjoyed tasters and watched demonstrations by chefs at the two-day event at Caldicot Castle.
The festival is held twice a year, in spring and autumn, at the castle.
Among the exhibitors were Caldicot-based brewery Castles – although it perhaps came a few days too early.
The brewery, which is based on the Severnbridge industrial estate, is just about to put its latest bitter on sale.
Assistant brewer, Scott Skellan said: “It’s currently in the chill room in casks, conditioning.
“It will be available this week.”
The best bitter is 4.6 alcohol by volume and is called Bartisan which is a fortified turret on a castle.
Among those appearing in the demonstration tent was Bill King, an artisan baker, who was joined by members of the audience as he tried to dispel some of the myths around baking bread.
As well as beers and ciders there was a vast range of pies, cakes, sauces, chocolates and sweets.
