CHEPSTOW Male Voice Choir’s 27th annual Christmas concert was performed to an audience reckoned to be probably as large as any it has had at this very popular event.
The guests were Lydney Training Band and Drybrook and District Ladies’ Choir.
A spokesperson told the Review: “How fulfilling it is to walk out in file to the stage and have such a large and attentative audience?
“Our guests, Lydney Training Band, were once again with us and they were led by their musical director Kevin Ward.
“Including some more mature learners, they regaled us with some seasonal offerings and accompanied the audience and choirs as we all sang a couple of Christmas carols. They entertained the audience prior to the start of the concert and during the interval.
He said the choir was delighted the Drybrook Ladies’ Choir accepted the invitation to perform.
“They sang a broad selection of pieces and looked very seasonal in their pink outfits. Of the pieces they sang, was one in Forest dialect.
“We would like to send a big thank you to these ladies, and to say that we hope to be in concert with them another time.
“Our musical team of musical director Frank Jones, in his first Christmas concert with us, deputy MD and soloist Richard Fry and, of course, our two wonderfully talented and dependable accompanists, Rosemarie Lewis and Kirsten Watson, were all on seamless form.
“Monday December 21 saw the choir carolling around five nursing homes. This has been our tradition since CMVC was formed."
