CHEPSTOW Male Voice Choir sang at the funeral service of its chorister’s wife who was instrumental in the choir’s fundraising campaigns.
Mike Barne asked the choir to sing at his late wife Anna’s funeral at Shirenewton Church.
Spokesperson for the choir, Stuart Vigus said: “Up to the onset of her illness, Anna had been a very active and cheerful member of our ladies’ support section organising and helping at fundraising events for the choir.
“We said our goodbyes to her with four pieces chosen by Mike and his three daughters, and their families, to a packed church and a goodly number of choristers. She will be greatly missed.”
The choir has since been busy performing at fundraisers including St Mary’s, Christchurch in the Forest of Dean which is raising money for church fabric. They were also invited to sing at The Millennium Village Hall, in Llandogo, to raise funds for the refurbishment of the village memorial, which it is hoped will be complete by November in time for Remembrance Sunday.
