A COMMUNITY group in Lydney is celebrating after receiving a grant for £800 from The Midcounties Co-operative for a Christmas lunch, an outing and to buy new equipment.

The money has been awarded to the Tutnalls Lunch Club, a group set up in 2006 to provide a hot meal and support for elderly people in Lydney and neighbouring villages.

The funding is from the Co-operative Community Fund in partnership with the Gloucestershite Community Foundation. They share the aim of enabling local people to find local solutions.

The fund has been created from dormant share accounts and will be used to make grants twice a year. To apply for funding on behalf of a group the applicant must be a member of Midcounties Co-oparative.
