WHEN people write to the papers about the relative merit of supermarkets in Cinderford, they should bear in mind that the Co-op belongs to its customers. That's why it is called Co-operative.
It was founded by people who wanted to own their own shop. Therefore the Co-op gives dividends to its customers and supports many local organisations.
My mother was an ardent member of the Co-op Women's Guild.
I've got to admit that I haven't been to any Co-op meetings, but one can go to meetings and discuss the running of the enterprise.
