A COLEFORD couple had a nasty surprise when they awoke to find their front garden had been trashed by boar.
Edna Evans and Richard Simmonds, did not hear the disturbance because they sleep on the other side of their bungalow in Ruffett’s Close.
A neighbour told them that he was woken at about 1.30am on Monday, July 2 by the couple’s security light going on and off.
He told them a single, young boar had got into the garden.
It is thought the animal got in through a hole in the fence.
The couple, who are both in their 70s, have asked landlords Two Rivers Housing to repair it.
Mrs Evans said: “It has knocked over a lot of our ornaments and the table, which we only bought recently.”
The couple were relieved the boar did not get into the back garden where they have a vegetable plot with growing plants.
Mr Simmonds said: “We know the boar are in the Forest but they shouldn’t be in the towns like this.”
