WE should like to use your Letters page to thank the complete stranger who was extremely helpful to us in Coleford on Friday.

We had made what was meant to be a quick afternoon trip there, only to find on arrival that the bus schedule had been revised and there was no bus back to Monmouth that day. A lady passing by realised our predicament and said she was just driving to Monmouth and would be glad to give us a lift. This offer was also extended to a young man who was stranded just as we were.

The lady drove us all the way home, refused any hospitality because she was in a hurry, and left with a wave of her hand and an assurance that it had been no trouble at all! It was certainly a great help to us and it leaves us with a very pleasant memory of Coleford and its people.
