‘MUCH-NEEDED’ work to improve St John’s Street starts this Wednesday (March 16) for two days.
Road markings will be refreshed and seven bollards will be installed by Gloucestershire County Council to make it easier for pedestrians to be seen and cross the road.
A new crossing with a textured ground surface to help pedestrians who are blind or visually impaired will be installed.
The road will be closed between 8.30am and 4pm each day while the improvements are carried out, and a small diversion will be in place. The road will remain open at all other times.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “These improvements in Coleford will make it safer and easier for shoppers to get around, and I’d like to thank local people for their patience while we get the work done.”
Cllr Paul McMahon (Lab, Coleford) added: “Finally, after much consultation with both the public and traders, we’ve produced much-needed improvements to St John’s Street which meet the needs of all.”
