LYDNEY Rugby Club's highly successful colts team begin training on July 29 determined to emulate the achievements of last season.

They will be coached this year by former First teamers Rob Rees and Andy Jewitt and they have a full list of over 30 fixtures plus cup games.

Rees says he is confident the team can continue to provide a steady stream of players to the senior side.

"We already have the nucleus of a good team with half of last year's side still available to play again but we would like to hear from anyone who would like to join.

"They can either turn up to training at 7pm at the club or telephone me on Dean 841391," said Rees.

Last year's team lost narrowly in the final of the County Cup.

"They trained extremely hard and reaped the benefits with some outstanding displays towards the end of the season," said Rees.

He tips several of the young players who now move on to senior rugby to make an impact over the next two or three years.

"Hooker and captain Andy Wright has already played a couple of times for the First XV and should make an impact in the First or Second XVs.

"Other boys who should be looking to play First team rugby over the next couple of seasons are Kenny Davies and Martin Tustin in the front row, Ben Creed in the second row and James Noble in the backrow.

"Anthony Myers who plays centre or flanker also looks to have a good future."
