THE new Forest of Dean branch chairman of the famous Back Badge Club wants younger ex-servicemen to come and enjoy the range of social events and activities it has to offer.
Craig Risbey, 37, took over from long-serving and greatly respected Phil Miller at the AGM of the association for members of the Royal Gloucester, Wiltshire and Berkshire Regiment and former Gloucestershire Regiment 28/61st (the Glosters).
The Back Badge Club is named after an heroic stand by the Glosters in the Middle East, since when they have worn regimental badges on both the front and back of their uniform caps.
Craig, an ex warrant officer, said he had been asked to take on the position with a view to introducing more younger members. He wanted ex-soldiers of all ages and ranks, especially those who served in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, to meet up with old friends and colleagues.

"I'm particularly keen on helping some of our younger members who can find it hard adjusting after several years of being looked after in the army."
To explain where the organisation is going and show what it has to offer he has planned a gathering at the Rising Sun, Moseley Green, on Tuesday January 25 at 7.30pm for everyone who might be interested.
The gathering will also discuss a 'Back Badge' function to be held during March.
