A GIRLS' junior football team, which has successfully trialled for players aged from five to 11, is now keen to take the next step by recruiting more players to form a permanent girls section to take part in league games.

So come on you girls – Ross Juniors is waiting to hear from you. Posters have gone out in Polish and there are fliers out there for the right girls from around the Forest and surrounds.

Paul Flitney, who is managing the teams, says they've trialled doing girls-only football for those in school years 1-6.

"This was successful and we've ended up with 18 players joining us from all areas of the Forest. We are now aiming to start a permanent girls section and form a team to enter a league.

"Training is from 6pm to 7pm at Ross Rowing Club Football Pitches and is split into two age groups , years 1-2 (aged five to seven) and 3-6 (aged eight to 11).

"Don't worry, no previous experience is needed just a willingness to have fun and learn new skills. The older section has some excellent players and we need just two or three more so that we can enter a full team."
