MEMBERS of the Forest of Dean Commoner's Association are to be urged to make sure all their sheep are properly marked.

At a meeting to be held at the Nags Head, Yorkley on Saturday (start 7pm), members will be told that Forestry Commission staff have already carried out some checks.

Commoners secretary Mick Holder said commoners will be told to make sure all their sheep are marked.

He said: "The checks are continuing. It is important for every animal to be properly marked and also ear-tagged. Commoners should be aware that costs can quickly mount if sheep have been impounded."
