NURSERY children from Lydney visited a local construction site.
Far from being told to keep out, these youngsters were encouraged to take a closer look – under careful supervision of course. The children, from Come and Play Day Nursery, have been watching the progress of a housing development close to their pre-school. They were invited on to the site by Two Rivers Housing Association and Harper Construction and watched as a crane began work on the new homes.
Lauren Brown, deputy manager at the nursery, says: “We often walk past the site and have a look to see what’s going on. The children were so excited when they were invited to watch the crane at work. They haven’t stopped talking about it since!”
Tara Newman, development officer at Two Rivers, says: “With the nursery so close to the site it was a great opportunity for the children to learn more about how houses are built. The six new properties are due for completion in September. The development will comprise of four one-bedroom flats and two, two-bedroom houses.”
