Your readers might be interested to know that in the current edition of the Forest of Dean Local History Society journal there is an article entitled Pageants, Prayers and Pins: How Foresters celebrated the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth ll in 1953.

The article goes into some detail about how various villages and the major towns went about planning and celebrating the big day. Some of your readers may recognise themselves in the accompanying photographs.

As well as talking to a number of people who remember the event from their childhoods, much of the material came from the local papers.
