A FEW years ago Lydney Town Council was awarded Local Government Award Scheme Quality Gold status.
Obviously this prestigious award does not take into consideration retention of its councillors.
We have recently been informed of the resignations of Cllr Rudge and Cllr Vaughan.
These, along with the resignation of Cllr Openshaw, means that we have witnessed at least three resignations in the last year alone.
The total number of resignations from Lydney Town Council since 2011 now amounts to approximately 20.
Resignations from the other three Forest councils, who incidently do not hold the Gold Status, is virtually unheard of.
Therefore, questions need to be asked.
Is there an underlying reason for the exodus of councillors from Lydney Town Council and how will this affect future recruitment and cost to the electorate?
As this council is currently only functioning with 80 per cent of its councillors, is Lydney Town Council in a position to fulfill its obligation to the electorate or is it in disarray?
