IT appears the non-deliveries of the Lydney newsletter is now back on the agenda even though it was first discussed at a council meeting on March 9 2015, 18 months ago.

Cllr Preest suggests I put my name forward for council followed by comments that I would not be wanted – how confusing.

However, I will give some reasons why I would not do this.

Some weeks ago Cllr Preest worriedly appeared on my doorstep, offering an olive branch, after the letter I wrote regarding his disgraceful defection from UKIP.

By his defection he let the voters down, including myself, who had elected and put their confidence in him.

I cannot understand why the Conservatives should want a person back who they had previously expelled, unless there is an ulterior motive?

Perhaps he can explain the reason for his original expulsion? Why should I want to sit on a council with someone I unfortunately can no longer trust?

Likewise with trustees or councillors who blocked neighbours’ and my entrances at Lydney Lake, which have been in use for over 50 years, without prior notification or discussion – is this democracy?

Cllr Preest, on request, visited and stated he would assist in the matter through county solicitors. We have never heard anything since.

What is to attract me to a council which since 2011 has seen in the region of 20 councillors resign from it?

Cllr Preest states that there are three vacant seats at the moment.

What he did not add was that one councillor has not attended a meeting for six months and should have been excluded and added to the list.

Can Cllr Preest explain if there is an underlying reason why people are not rushing to fill these vacancies? After all Lydney Town Council is one of Quality Gold status.
