HERE we go again (July 31) the monthly sermon on green waste by Venk Shenoi. I say monthly as the last one was given to us in your edition datedJune 30 2009.

I wonder if he lives in an environment where it is possible to have a bonfire to burn his rubbish without upsetting his neighbours and then compost the remainder for his vegetable plot.

Does he expect us to do the same on our residential estates, where despite his statistics they are in the majority, compared to isolated cottages in the Forest of Dean? If he has his way, our estates will resemble an Apache reservation. Then again is it a case of "I'm alright Jack?" There is an element in our council tax to cover waste removal so if you take this facility away from residents this will encourage fly-tipping and the worse scenario people will be removing their lawns and replacing them with the dreaded patios. Without adequate drainage this will result in mass flooding. Probably where he lives it will not affect him.

I suppose if you keep preaching about it once a month, someone at the council will take notice and if they do, that will be another stealth tax that we will to pay. Your electorate will love you. – John D Tandy, Deansway Road, Mitcheldean.
