A ROSS-ON-WYE couple appeared on BBC One’s Bargain Hunt on Monday.
Alison and Phil Clarke, who own and run Calendar Lady Promotions, were selected to go on the daytime antiques programme where they met show presenter Tim Wonnacott and antiques expert Phil Serrell.
The couple faced tough opponents to buy antiques at a fair and then sell them in an auction for a profit.
“We definitely won’t be venturing into the antiques business,” said Alison.
“We were delighted to hear that we had got through the auditions stage. The first part of the programme was filmed at a huge antiques fair at the Royal Welsh showground in Builth Wells, then a few weeks later we were off to an auction house in Shrewsbury to film the actual auction.
“We were then teamed up with antiques expert Phil Serrell, the other couple with Ben Cooper, and show presenter, Tim Wonnacott, helped both teams to hunt out and buy some antique bargains.
“At auction – although our opponents also made a loss – they didn’t lose as much as Phil and I so they were the overall winners.
“We weren’t at all disappointed because taking part was so much fun.”
This isn’t the Clarke family’s first appearance on the small screen. The couple bought their first home together in Upton Bishop following the advice of Kirsty Allsopp and Phil Spencer on Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location and the programme has made several return visits to report on their climb up the property ladder.
