WHILE one Forest student waited anxiously for her GCSEs her dad had to keep a secret.

Victoria Curruthers found out how she had done in her exams when she went to Lakers School in Coleford on Thursday – but dad Richard already knew.

Mr Curruthers works with the school's management information systems where the results were kept.

But he kept the knowledge secret and Victoria found out how she had done at the same time as her friends on Thursday morning.

Lakers head Alison Elliott said she was proud that all students left the with relevant qualifications and every leaver is headed into further education, jobs or training.

Many students around the Forest and Wye Valley were celebrating good results with several gaining straight A* and As in their exams.

Several schools have reported record results at GCSE.
