A RURAL road connecting two Forest villages will be shut for resurfacing works for five days from next Wednesday (April 20).
Amey has sent letters to residents in Dean Road, between Dean Hill junction near Littledean Hall and Newnham, notifying them of the road closure.
In a letter, Amey said: "Due to the nature of the work and the size of the machinery to be used, there will be no vehicle access from the carriageway during this time."
The wet winter has seen the condition of the affected road deteriorate causing numerous potholes.
A motorist, who uses the road regularly, said: "This is very good news. The work is long overdue."
The work is expected to take place between 8am and 3.30pm. A diversion will be in place in Littledean Road to Elton Corner.
