YESTERDAY I went with the pupils from Soudley Primary
School to visit the Dean Heritage Centre. The work that
has gone into this year's Christmas festivities is absolutely
fantastic.
All the pupils throughly enjoyed the Fairy Tale Trail
and are buzzing with enthusiasm. Class 3 especially
wanted to spread the word that it is worth a visit.
I am certain that all age groups will find this
attractive, fun and informative. The stories and the
wooden sculptures were marvellous. The skills that the
staff and volunteers have must certainly be commended.
It took the whole morning but all the pupils, both
infant and junior were occupied fully during this period.
Once they had completed the trail they entered the
museum and followed cryptic clues to find Rudolph. This
encouraged them to study the archives in detail and use
their knowledge of the local area and history (sometimes
with help). They were given clues appropriate to their ages
and all were successfully rewarded with a small gift once
they had located the "stolen reindeer."
Congratulations must be given to all those involved
with this venture – it is certainly worth a visit.
