SPONSORED-----A Lydney fashion designer is offering one lucky student the chance to wear a ‘dream outfit’ to the school prom Whether your style is belle or beau of the ball, uber-cool fashionista, steam punk or something else entirely, all you need to do to enter is to put pen or pencil to paper and get creative.

Jocelyn Banks, owner of Love My Chic, said: “The school prom has crossed the Atlantic to become an eagerly anticipated rite of passage for teenagers across the UK.

“Many students will be planning their outfit down to the finest details months in advance. I looked up prom etiquette and it said that the attire should be as fancy as possible to emphasise how special the night is.

“I appreciate that not everyone is prepared to spend hundreds of pounds on an outfit that will potentially only be worn once, but the outfits you usually find in the shops are predictable and often very similar in style.

“This is when I came up with the idea of this competition. So I’m giving all of our local teenagers with a prom this summer the opportunity to design their own dream outfit.

“The winner will have the design transformed from a drawing into a completely bespoke outfit made to measure. I will make it and you will get to wear it on the day.”

Jocelyn says that when you are designing you need to consider the shape and silhouette, fabrics, trimmings and colours you imagine your design will be made in.

“They don’t have to be exact,” she added, “as this can be decided on when we meet to discuss creating your design. Don’t be put off entering if you can’t draw very well, as it’s your unique ideas we are interested in.”

So let your imagination run free and maybe you could be our lucky winner, wearing your own exquisite couture creation ‘for one night only’ to your prom.
