The Forest's Dial-a-Ride service looks set to move into Lydney bus station as part of a phased expansion programme.
Money to enlarge the service (meaning more buses) and to revamp the boarded-up bus station is expected to come from the Department of Transport via Gloucestershire County Council as a boost for 'community transport services'.
A decision will be made this Friday (August 5).
Louise Currie, Manager of Lydney Dial-a-Ride, said: "The use of the bus station for Lydney Dial-a-Ride is a huge boost and I am delighted to continue working with the council to improve the service in future. It'll be good for the town and passengers."
Meantime service 666 from Newent to Ross-on-Wye which costs £42.06 for a return journey and carries only two passengers per week, will be withdrawn from November.
