AYLBURTON'S first post war carnival queen Kathleen Harris (née Lucas) joined the procession this year to celebrate the carnival's 60th anniversary.
Kathleen was carnival queen in 1949 and is now president of the Women's Institute and a parish councillor.
She travelled in a 1928 Riley and was joined this year by two of her 1949 attendants, Gillian Phelps (née Wintour) and Janet Cecil (née Lucas).
Kathleen said: "It is a great tribute to Aylburton that the carnival has continued every year since 1949.
"It is very well supported and attracts entries from the village as well as former residents who still like to join in the fun.
"The schools, pubs and other organisations enter superb floats which are greatly appreciated by the crowds lining the street.
"Many people who have moved away make an annual visit to Aylburton on carnival and fete day to meet old friends and acquaintances."
