TO support and further comment on the letter from 'Proud Forester' re the state of Coleford's toilets:?Coleford is not the only town to fail its residents, shoppers and visitors in neglecting the cleanliness levels in public toilets.

I am a regular visitor to Lydney and use Tescos facilities after shopping or a local cafe after lunch. Both are mainly satisfactory.

Some years ago, when living near Lydney, I was forced several times to use the car park toilets which to my mind were only just acceptable.

When visiting Cinderford for a couple of hours at a time, I try not to use any toilets, so I can't comment on their public toilets.

Outside of the Forest, speaking of Gloucester, I travel there and home by bus and well, the toilets at the bus station there are appalling. I won't go into the grimy details, but what is one to do when the need arises?

I thought these public facilities had to be checked and cleaned every two hours. Even the Ladies in the Shopping Mall are not really up to standards. The only toilets I have found acceptable are in Marks and Spencers.

So commiserations, my friend – this subject is on an equal par to my frustration over dog excrement.
