A GROUP dedicated to rehoming unwanted pets in the Forest area wants to say a huge thanks to readers who sent in dog food and blankets over the Christmas period.
"The response was fantastic. The Buttermilk Rehoming Centre received piles of blankets and bags and tins of food and even toys for the dogs," said Louise Best of the Canine Rehoming Register.
"We especially want to thank Claire at Cutts 4 Mutts in Cinderford who acted as a collection point and also the staff and clients of Marlows vets in Chepstow for their food donations," she said.
"Unfortunately it was not possible to collect from everyone who offered help but more collections will be made in the near future."
The Rehoming Register has several dogs looking for kind new owners now, she said, and anyone who wanted details should contact her.
The pets include good natured adult male Jack Russell Tucker; vice-free four-year-old Springer Collie mix Lucy; German Shepherd Tyler who needs an experienced handler, shy Collie cross Frankie, and rough-coat terrier Daisy.
"When possible a home check will be carried out and a rehoming fee is required," said Louise.
"If you have a dog you would like us to rehome it must be vaccinated with a valid certificate available."
Beauty is one of the group's rehoming success stories– featured in the Review in November, she was picked up as a stray and placed in the rescue centre in Churchdown, Gloucester. After losing their Jack Russell Mr and Mrs Thomas of Tutshill found life without a dog unbearable and gave her a home. Now a Jack Russell pup, Carid, has joined the Thomas family!
