A BULL terrier reported missing from its home in Coleford has been found – unfortunately 12 feet down on a ledge of a disused quarry.

The luckless Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which was reported missing last Friday (September 30) was eventually hauled to safety on Sunday by rope rescue teams from Coleford and Lydney Fire and Rescue Service.

A total of 10 firefighters were involved in lowering a team to pull the dog to safety. Crew manager, Graham Bennetto, from the Coleford station, said the dog was some distance over the edge of the quarry so they needed to use rope rescue equipment to lower two firefighters to the dog then pull them all back to safety.

Despite its cliff top ordeal the dog was uninjured and happy to be reunited with his owners.
