I recently took a lot of cardboard to our local tip and on seeing what sort of items other people were "tipping" for landfill, I was prompted to inform local people about Forest of Dean Freecycle. 

I have been a member for a few years now and when we have items to dispose of, I always consider Freecycle first.

The online site is run by wonderful volunteers who generously give their time to put people's messages on-line for other members to read. You can give stuff away or put a "wanted" message if there is something you need.  It is absolutely amazing what we have been able to give away. It now runs in to well over a hundred items which have gone to others who were able to make use of our "throw outs" including electrical goods, garden tools, fridge, freezer, plants, suitcases, the list is endless.
