A FOREST garage pulled off a remarkable double when two of its staff were named among the top 20 master technicians for renowned car brand Nissan.

Adam Burns and Liam Smith, who work for Five Acres Garage, got to drive cars ‘to their limit’ at the Silverstone racetrack in Northamptonshire as part of their prize for being Nissan dealer ‘ambassador of the year’ winners.

Liam explained: “They chose the top 20 from each (training) module and invited us to an event at Silverstone.

“There are about 204 dealerships in the country and we are one of the smaller dealerships, but we got two of the master techs out of the 20, which is quite an achievement.”

On the track they hit more than 100mph in a family Micra and went at 150mph in a GTR being driven by a professional racing driver.

Adam said: “It’s nice to be recognised and we got to drive the cars to the limit, so we know what they can do.”

They also got to experience ‘extreme off-roading’ in a Navara and an X-Trail.

Adam, 41, and Liam, 26, completed their master technician training in a speedy 18 months and say the backing of their bosses helped them.

Liam said: “They don’t hold back on training, they want to progress and be the best you can.”
