HOTEL owners Craig and Cath Morgan made a dream come true for a couple living with a devastating diagnosis.

The owners of the Orles Barn at Wilton near Ross-on-Wye hosted the wedding of Jay Faulkner – who has terminal cancer – and his bride Tracy Gordon free-of-charge after the couple were advised to bring the ceremony forward.

Jay, 35, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May 2015, but was told at the start of this year that there was no further treatment available.

The couple had been dating for 18 months when Jay proposed to girlfriend, Tracy, 38, on Christmas Day but the couple knew they had to move quickly to prepare for the big day.

Tracy said: “We had planned for a March wedding, but Jay’s Macmillan nurse advised us it would be wise to bring the wedding forward.”

Tracy then contacted Wish for a Wedding, an organisation which aims to provide dream weddings for couples dealing with a terminal illness.

And as soon as she contacted the charity things started to move quickly with wedding suppliers from all over the area coming forward to offer their services free of charge.

“The couple’s story touched our hearts,” said Mr Morgan. “It was the least we could do for Tracy and Jay who held their wedding reception here last Thursday following a ceremony at Hereford Town Hall.”

Tracy, who has two teenage children said: “The response was phenomenal, everything you would need for a fantastic wedding was donated within hours. So many people have donated their services and time.

“I didn’t know that a charity like Wish for a Wedding even existed, but with their help we achieved our dream wedding. We are both truly overwhelmed and so grateful that words don’t seem to cover how much.”
