THEY may not be the Harlem Globetrotters yet, but the Forest's only basketball team has been going 25 years, knows how to dribble, sprint, jump and shoot and has built up a huge amount of team camaraderie.
The Five Acres team who practice every Thursday night at (you guessed it) Five Acres in Coleford are on the look-out for new recruits – so, if you fancy joining a squad of both sexes, get in touch or just turn up.
Simon La Porta says it's a friendly squad and a number of players have been coming for 20 years or more.
"It's good fun, very healthy with a lot of sprinting, jumping, balance and good hand and eye coordination. A lot of us use it as good fitness training. We also try and go on tour abroad at least once a year. Last year we went to Bordeaux to play in a tournament which we actually won."
The team trains every Thursday at 7.30pm. It's mixed sex, or to be properly PC, gender, so both women and men are welcome. To find out more get in touch with Simon on 07739 044810 or 01594 860697.
