POLICE are investigating a lorry driver for careless driving after a collision on a blackspot road left a woman motorcyclist with an injured leg.

The accident happened on the A48 at Westbury, just before the bridge coming from Elton Corner around 8.20am this morning (Tuesday, November 21).

The woman’s mother later wrote on social media that her daughter was "OK" and they were waiting at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for an X-ray on her ankle.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "We were called shortly after 8.20am this morning to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a lorry on the A48.

"The female motorcyclist sustained what are believed to be minor injuries (an ankle injury) and will be taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

"The road was clear by 8.50am. We are investigating the driver of the lorry for the possible offence of driving without due care and attention."
