THE Review is always supportive of initiatives which promote road safety and I wondered if an article concerning the free IAM Course day would be worthy of publication.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists exists to improve driving skills, with a view to increasing road safety. The Gloucestershire Group of Advanced Motorists holds free course days led by Mike Addis, a police driver examiner and IAM examiner. Mike is an entertaining presenter, good communicator and very experienced in advanced driving techniques. His presentation is based on roadcraft – the police drivers' handbook and the IAM Skill for Life guidebook. The day is highly recommended for anyone who wishes to become a better, more competent and safer driver. Younger drivers are especially welcome.
The next Advanced Driving Course Day is on Saturday, February 11 from 10am to 4pm at Churchdown Community Centre, Parton Road, Churchdown, Gloucester. Free tea, coffee and cakes are available all day but a packed lunch should be brought. Anyone who cannot make the whole day is welcome to attend either the morning or afternoon session. Participants also have the opportunity to enquire about the Skill for Life course which leads to obtained the Advanced Driver Certificate.
Further information may be obtained from myself or from Peter Davies on 01242 523917, email chiefobserver@glosiam. org
I hope you will find it helpful to let people know of this opportunity to increase their driving skills and thus make Gloucestershire roads safer for all.
