OLYMPIC hero Eddie ’the Eagle’ Edwards visited Cinderford this morning (Thursday) to officially open the new St White’s Primary School.

Eddie won the hearts of millions as he took on the giants of ski-jumping at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.

After cutting a ribbon with the help of the school council, Eddie was given a tour of the new school – and he was very impressed.

He told the Review: "It’s a fantastic school – I wish I was young enough to come here."

The £6 million school, which opened in March, replaces a Victorian school nearby.
