PERSONALLY I am getting fed up with the letter writers who criticise every idea for renewable energy for example solar panels – they distract drivers attention! How about the 50-plus road signs from Lydney to Gloucester?
Then we have wind turbines. They are ugly – never mind all the pylons and lamp posts and if they do use these things we want money for using our wind and sun,
I may be wrong but I thought that the sun, being 93 million miles away, didn't just shine on the Forest of Dean and the wind circled the Earth.
Then we have fracking. This will upset our water supply and quality as it will be about one mile underground.
The fact that the Forest is covered with mine workings a few hundred feet underground well into the water table and doesn't seem to interfere with the water doesn't seem to matter .
Then we have nuclear power – don't build these as one blew up in Russia about 20 years ago. No comment.
The proposed Severn Barrage. No, we mustn't have that as it will upset the birds and they can't build in the Northern Quarter, Cinderford because of the bats. Aw for gawd's sake!
Then we have 'global warming' caused by all the coal and fossil fuel being burnt.
When Great Britain was covered in seven miles of ice there must have been a lot of carbon going up in the air to have warmed up the Earth to have melted that lot
Seriously though, would all your letter writers who moan about these things please come up with an alternative that will not upset someone (or something) or shut up? –
