THE whole European project was founded on deceit.

It was admitted by Jean Monet, one of its founder members, that in order to achieve full European dictatorship it would be necessary to deceive the nations of Europe into believing it was based on trade, when trade was only a side issue.

The objective was to bring those nations into line, and Europe all one country – with pre-determined rulers.

This, he said, would have to be accomplished in stages. Well, we have already been through most of those stages.

The Common Market (which is what it was when Britain joined) was followed by the EEC, then came the EC, with its various treaties, the Single Market and single currency.

It is now the European Union, and the next stage will be the United States of Europe.

In order to quit Europe, it is not necessary to invoke any article of the Treaty of Lisbon, all Theresa May has to do is repeal the 1972 European Communities Act and then tell the European Commission Britain is no longer a member.

Them telling us what we can do and how to do it is a direct breach of sovereignty which is the very thing we have all just fought so hard to preserve.

The Commonwealth could become such a superior alternative to the European Union and our politicians should now seize the chance.

The Queen is already Head of the Commonwealth, an organisation spread throughout the planet, vast compared with Europe and USA put together, and she is already Head of State in 17 members.

By strengthening our ties with the Commonwealth – who came to our aid in two World Wars and to whom we owe so much and with whom we have so much in common – we would be doing the right and decent thing and following the path to our true destiny as our history has already shown us the way.
