THE Brexit mob bang on about we want to be in charge of our own country.

From a distance this seems OK but the facts are that we are governed by a Tory party that was supported by only 20 per cent of those entitled to vote.

What is more they are pushing through legislation that was not in their manifesto such as huge so-called efficiency savings of £20 billion in the NHS, all schools to be academies and their assets being passed to their ‘new owners’, cuts in benefits to the poor and disabled set against tax cuts for the rich.

So at least more than 50 per cent of voters did not agree with their proposals and if the truth had been known before the election they may not have been elected.

To say the least for the EU, the fact that so many countries can add their voices to the arguments means that presented legislation, has had to be agreed by a coalition of ideas.

For my part I think that good relations with as many countries as possible is a basis for harmonious relationships throughout the world.

Sometimes it is necessary to ‘give in’ on some aspects to make gains in others.

The bottom line should not be measured in pounds, shillings and pence but is this the world we would like to live in and what can we do to achieve this end?
