CONGRATULATIONS to the Minnows who took to the field at Lydney Rugby Ground on Saturday (not the highly entertaining youngsters' half-time display, although they were very good, by the way, thank you to those people who give up their time to train these youngsters).
I am really referring to the 1st XV players who opposed the might of third placed Ealing. Yes, they were 'minnows' compared to the state of the opposition, but though we supporters were in trepidation of the final score, the minnows were not – they really got stuck in.
No names – they were all magnificent! When through tiredness and fatigue a tackle was missed, one of their colleagues was there to cover.
Was this Lydney's finest hour? If not, it was up there with the best.
