THREE former members of the Glosters regiment – all of whom have been wounded – are doing their bit for the charities Help for Heroes and Afghan Heroes.

Michael Tilley, of Littledean, will be joined by Gary Hopkins, of Lydney, and Terry Cull, of Cheltenham, to take part in a night-time exercise aimed to test their navigation skills to the full.

Teams of three will be taking part in the fundraiser called "The 30 mile get back".

Michael explained: "We meet in Cheltenham where we are blindfolded and then taken out of the town to an isolated location 30 miles away. It will be at night and our only assistance will be a compass.

"The first team back are the winners."

During their careers as soldiers all three men served in Bosnia and Northern Ireland. All three have been injured.

"It's our way to raise funds for other soldiers," said Michael.
