MY sister posted me acut out from your paper the Review, of a picture 'Joyford Hill Puzzle.'

The man (second from) the left, sitting on the stone wall is (I believe) my father Stan Dickinson.   Dad worked at Cannop Pit and lived at "The Firs"  opposite Christchurch, Berry Hill, near Collett's garage.  After his marriage he moved to  Joyford Hill where we lived.

During non pit work times, he also did stone masonry  with his grandfather  Dickinson and was taught blacksmith skills by his grandmother's family the Brown's at the Biblins. I don't know who the other people are or  if they are in any way related.

I have included a photo of dad as a younger man/teenager. Dad was born in 1909 at Berry Hill, so my guess is that he was 17/18  in the 'Joyford Hill Puzzle' photo which dates it about 1926.

Please give my thanks to the contributor for sharing this photo.
