A FARM park wants to site another 60 log cabins on its site for holidaymakers and visitors.
The Dick Whittington Farm Park in Longhope obtained permission for 27 cabins at the rear of the premises last year, but has now applied for a further 60 pitches.
Agents SF Planning Ltd have told Forest planners the extra log cabins are needed to support the farm park, based beside the A4136 in Little London.
A report to the council claims: "It is clear that the location proposed for the development is essential for the continuing operation of the existing farm park, an important existing visitor attraction in the area."
The proposed 4.1 hectare grassland site is located in a valley beside man-made lakes and woodland, and the cabins will be 12m (38ft) in length by 6m (19ft) in width with a car parking space.
Applicant Chris Turney said there is limited lodge or log cabin type accommodation in the area. The only comparable provision in terms of a rural setting and concept is the Forest Holidays site near Coleford and the Whitemead site at Parkend.
The log cabins will be a complementary business to the farm park that is less seasonal and less weather-affected, he added.
