VARIOUS roads surrounding Mile End in Coleford are expected to reopen by 1pm today after a fatal car collision.

Gloucestershire Police, Ambulance and Fire emergency services were called at 7.50am this morning to Mile End Road, at the junction of Woodgate Road and the B4208.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a Vauxhall Zafira driven by a 55-year-old man from Coleford and a Volkswagon Up driven by a 76-year-old woman from Lydney. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The man was very shocked by the incident but did not require medical treatment.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: "Various roads have been closed including Mile End Road, Main Road, Edge End Road, Bakers Hill and Woodgate Road. It’s expected that the roads will be open by 1pm today."
