NOW the door has closed on another festive season in Coleford, it was with some sadness that, after all the anticipation leading up to the lights switch on, we were disappointingly left with so many unlit.

I could not help but wonder how the volunteers must have felt seeing this after all their hard work.

Whether or not this was because of a technical problem or just a failure by some retailers not switching them on I don't know, but it is to be hoped that they are not disheartened to the extent that they might think twice about taking it on in the future.

There are many of us that do appreciate what they do.
