OWNERS of the Field Fayre – The Organic Store, in Ross, are delighted after scooping its second national award.
David and Yolanda MacGregor picked up the gold medal for 'Best independent retailer' in the Soil Association's annual awards in London. This follows hot on the heel of being joint runners-up with multi-national Waitrose in the Natural and Organic Europe awards 2013 for 'Best organic retailer' earlier this year.
Judges were impressed by the attention to detail of sourcing really good local and organic food in the Ross area, and said that the couple's approach to make living and eating organically as easy as possible "must be complimented and they had mouth-watering displays of product."
The awards were announced as part of Organic September, the UK's biggest celebration of all things organic and the launch of the 'Small Changes, Big Difference'. Monty Don, president of the Soil Association said: "The Organic Food awards celebrate not only great tasting food and drink but also the inspiring stories behind it."
David and Yolanda MacGregor, owners of Field Fayre, commented: "We are incredibly honoured to have been recognised again at a national level for the produce, range and service we offer. More and more people are recognising the benefits, both in terms of health, and also taste, of eating organic food. We work very hard to source the best there is available for our customers. This second award is great news and another boost for Ross-on-Wye's fantastic range of town centre independent shops."
