FOREST fishmonger David Preest has joined the elite in his highly skilled trade by winning top place for fish preparation in a national competition.
David, 27, who lives near Coleford, works for Severn and Wye Smokery, near Westbury.
Boss Richard Cook said: "It's a great achievement. David is a craftsman and deserves this accolade. We are all very pleased for him."
The competition, the British Fish Craft Championships, was organised by ´the National Federation of Fishmongers.
Mr Cook explained: "It was the first time David has entered. Some of the best craftsmen in the industry were competing and he did well, winning top place in the section for the filleting and preparation of a selection of sustainable fish. He also achieved two fourth places in other sections."
Over 50 fishmongers from all parts of Britain took part in the competition.
"David's success was all the more remarkable because he only works here on Saturdays. though he knows the business inside out," said Mr Cook.
