AS part of celebrations of 100 years of Yorkley Institute there is a talk there on Saturday (July 9, 7.30pm) by John Powell.
Exploring the River Severn reflects knowledge gained from years of experience fishing the river.
John has extensively researched many aspects of the river and its traditions and will be showing slides and old film. Of special note are the rarely seen images taken in 1872 of the old Severn Railway Bridge as it was being constructed.
Old film of life on the river will show just how important it was to many Forest families as a means of providing food and income.
Entrance is free and those attending will be able to see photographs of Michael Barnes' fishing equipment that is being exhibited all week.
