A TALENTED young musician, who made her debut in All Saints’ Church in Viney Hill at the age of seven, is returning to the church for a recital on Sunday, March 26, with the Smart but Casual choir, in support of the church roof fund.

Flautist Lucy Driver, 17, who is currently studying at the Cologne Conservatoire in Germany, made it through to the woodwind final of the Young Musician of the Year competition last year in Cardiff.

Lucy’s grandmother, Pat Lowe, from Viney Hill said: “I went to Cardiff to watch Lucy perform and it was a wonderful experience. She was down to the last four in her category.

“Lucy has performed many times in the Forest and given enormous support to local charities.”

Lucy will be performing solos including pieces by Bach, Faure, Honnegar, Fukushimo and Mozart. Viney Hill’s Smart but Casual choir will perform the Forest Anthem and choral works, led by Michael Kennerley, at the concert, which takes place at 7pm.
